How to get
THERE
Getting to France
​
Flying
Paris Roissy CDG and Paris Orly are the two main airports to get to Paris.
From there you can hire a car or catch the RERB into the city.
By ferry
For those living in Southern England, there's a ferry running from Newhaven to Dieppe, which you can catch as a foot passenger or take a car over. Dieppe is 1h30 away from the venue by car (2h30 by train).
By train
The Eurostar gets you from London to downtown Paris in 2h15.

Hiring a car
There are plenty of car hire agencies at both airports, in Paris and even in Dieppe.
Vernon is approximately 1h20 drive from Paris.
Getting to Vernon

Public transport
From the train station Gare Saint-Lazare, you can catch a direct train to Vernon-Giverny, that will take you to the centre of Vernon (10min walk to the Church).
Going from Church to the reception​
Shuttle
We're organising a shuttle bus to get everybody from Church to the reception venue.
Car
For those of you that prefer going to the reception venue by car, there is a large parking at the venue.
During the evening, a designated driver will be there to drive you back to your hotel .
WHERE to stay

We have pre-reserved rooms for Friday and Saturday night at the Hotel Normandy.
The Hotel Normandy is situated in the centre of Vernon, a 2 min walk to the Church. They have single, double, triple and four-persons family rooms. Prices per room range from €105-150 per night. It is also possible to add a baby bed to any room..
If you'd like to stay there, call or email them quoting "Joanna Smith and Luke Surl's wedding" when booking, otherwise they will tell you they are fully booked.
They will be holding rooms for us until the 30th of March 2020. So if you'd like to stay there, make sure you book your rooms beforehand.

Alternatively Une Vie en Rose and La Maison du Passeur are B&Bs within walking distance of the reception venue. For a more luxurious experience, you can also spend the night in the castle Château de la Madeleine, also within walking distance to the reception venue.
​

Don't feel limited by those suggestions! There are lots of hotels, B&Bs, and AirBnBs in and around Giverny, Vernon and Pressagny-l'Orgueilleux. However, as this is a popular tourist destination (Giverny is the famous home of Claude Monet) places for the summer will fill up early!
​
Just a quick note about French accommodation: "Gites" don't always provide towels and linen. Make sure to double check before booking.
FRIDAY and SUNDAY activities

Monet’s Garden, the site of our planned Friday activity, have decided to restrict numbers and are not doing group visits. Unfortunately this means we cannot organise an event there on the Friday, though if you wish to visit you can still book individual tickets (limited numbers) through their website at:

For those of you that will be staying in Vernon on Sunday morning, we'll be organising a brunch at the reception venue (crêpes anyone?).

WEDDING Registry
After delaying making plans we’ve decided to have our honeymoon in Sardinia.
We have set up an online honeymoon fund at www.kadolog.com/en/list/luke-joannas-honeymoon-fund. At that site there are options on that to buy different elements of the honeymoon such as activities or meals, or to contribute any amount you like in £, $ or €.
